Turn Lemons Into Lemonade for Broadneck Park

The Friends of Broadneck Park are asking the community to set up lemonade stands to help raise money for playground renovations.

A local volunteer organization is hoping Broadneck residents will chip in with lemonade stands to raise money for playground renovations at .

are organizing Broadneck Lemonade Stand Week to begin on Sunday. The idea is to set up a lemonade stand with your children or friends, and spread the word about donations to the park's playground.

Event organizer Kara McGuirk-Allison said these stands are a great way to get kids involved in the summertime.

"It's a great way to get the kids involved in improving their playground, and teaching them about making it accessible to all children," she said.

In June, friends of Broadneck Park Amelia Peck and her two friends Lydia Bryce and Loralei Bryce sold lemonade, raising about $60 toward .

It's one of many event fundaisers McGuirk-Allison has been involved in since forming the Friends of Broadneck Park earlier this  year. In April, she hosted the first ever , in July, she hosted , and in September,.

If you are interested in setting up a lemonade stand email McGuirk-Allison the date, time and location that you'd like to participate. Your stand will be posted on Facebook for publicity. Each stand will get an 11-by-17-inch Friends of Broadneck Park logo.

Participating does not obligate you to donate to the park. You can donate a percentage of all of the profits to the Friends of Broadneck Park, McGuirk Allison said.
