Boy Scouts Plant 100 Trees at Broadneck Park

Local scouts spent Saturday morning planting trees at the park.

Four Rivers Boy Scouts teamed up for a green afternoon on Saturday, planting more than 100 trees and shrubs at .

The planting event was the third time the group has partnered with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) Gift of Trees program. The foliage was planted near the dog park on Saturday morning. 

Through the Marylanders Plant Trees program, more than 75,000 trees have been planted by Marylanders toward a 100,000-tree goal.

The Gift of Trees plants native trees for a variety of occasions—in honor or memory of family and friends, to celebrate holidays or birthdays, or other special occasions.

"The Gift of Trees is actually three gifts—one to someone you care for, one to future generations, and one to the environment," said Lindsay Major, a representative of the DNR, in a release.
