Volunteer Opportunities in Broadneck and Beyond

Sign up to volunteer at the library, pack a bag of breakfast items or help with a community Thanksgiving dinner.

Anne Arundel County Public Library (throughout county)
for both ongoing projects and short-term activities. Shifts are often flexible, training will be provided and volunteers can be as young as 14. Check with the local to see what their volunteer needs are by calling 410-222-1905.

Happy Helpers for the Homeless
On Nov. 19, in recognition of National Family Volunteer Day, Happy Helpers for the Homeless will prepare 1,000 sandwiches from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grace Point Presbyterian Church, 615 Donaldson Ave. in Severn.

If you'd like to do something to help at home, donations are needed for the "Bag a Breakfast Project." Put together a bag breakfast to be distributed to the homeless with a box of cereal, spoon and cup, pastry, fruit, hot chocolate package with cup and spoon, juice box, and napkin. Salvation Army
The Salvation Army based in Annapolis will host a community Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 24 and needs volunteers. Other needs include volunteers for a variety of Christmas programs in November and December, donations of meals for sorters of Angel Tree gifts, sponsorship of Angel Trees, and donations of non-perishable food. Operation Welcome Home
Volunteers needed every week at BWI Airport International Terminal to welcome military personnel returning home by cheering, clapping and shaking hands to say thanks. Drivers Needed for Regency Park Assisted Living
Winter weather is around the corner so Regency Park Assisted Living is searching for volunteer drivers (with a 4-wheel-drive vehicle), age 21 and older with a good driving record. Sign up now to help transport caregivers to the facility in Gambrills in inclement weather conditions. Contact Judy Long at 410-923-1200 or email regencyparkgambrills@comcast.net.

Bowie Boys and Girls Club
Volunteers needed for various sports offered by the Bowie Boys and Girls Club. Positions needed may include coaches, publicity assistants, uniform managers, assistant coaches, commissioners and team managers. Contact the commissioner in the individual sport for more information. A background check is required for coaches.
