Tea Party sounding like an idiot? What a shocker! The feds are open today, smart guy. What they are…Read More allowing for is unscheduled leave. Does your job at Walmart not give you leave? Let me explain what it is: Fed workers can either forego being paid today, can use accrued leave (aka vacation), or have the flexibility to come in/leave at different times, e.g. going in at 6am this morning so as to avoid the storm this PM. Get it now?

I went to the Immigration offices downtown and they closed at 3:00. There was an Eastern couple…Read More there a little upset because they drove down from New York for an appointment so they were SOL, I wanted to apologize to them for the USA but didn't. I was there to get information and a form, I got the form but no information. I think their closing was silly.

I might agree with you on the rain tax, but I won't know because I won't bother to read your blog.…Read More Your a master at political showboating and frivolous lawsuits (your attempt to derail the state cross country championships a few years back being the most egregious) and acting like an idiot at sporting events, so there is no reason th think that anything you say is worth reading. By the way, it would be nice if your posts reflected the actual story you are commenting on

You're right. Not good idea to leave purse in car. It was actually my wife, and that's the first…Read More thing I told her. It wasn't in plain sight and after the fact we knew who saw her hide her purse under the seat. That being said, a lot of people do it because they live in the area and the cars are so close to the dog park and I guess are just a little too trusting. So for anyone that ever leaves anything in the car, don't. We certainly learned our lesson. If they had stolen her tires instead of her purse, would you ask, "Why leave your tires on your car when you get to the park?". It's the same crime. No different than if they stole a purse right off an old lady's arm, or broke into a home and stole a TV. Sad world when the victim is the first one blamed.

I agree, Bart. Disturbingly, someone posted very similar comments (blaming the victims) in a Capital…Read More article regarding a series of thefts from cars in an Eastport apartment complex. Folks who leave stuff in cars are either experiencing a moment of absent-mindedness, or have a very positive outlook on human nature. Neither case is behavior that merits the senseless loss of one's valuable possessions. Folks who use the comment sections of news sites to condemn them are either, at best: overly judgmental trolls who have alienated their friends and family with their condemning, free-flowing opinions and must resort to the anonymous internet for an audience; or, at worst: the thieves themselves trying to justify their criminal behavior. It's time for all members of society to begin looking out for each other and collectively refuse to justify crime of any sort.

So what about this new law that requires a smoke detector on every floor of ones home? Does that…Read More mean homeowners will be required to allow state inspectors into their homes to see if they have the requisite number of smoke detectors? This state is getting absolutely ridiculous. I can't wait until I'm retired so I can move to a truly free state.

I have known Bill Barnard since his days with the Prince George's County FD. He's always been an…Read More outstanding administrator, as well as a tireless advocate for fire prevention and related programs. Good luck in retirement Billy and congratulations to you.

The study uses self reporting to determine that white people and black people use marijuana at…Read More similar rates. But it doesn't address potential disparities between the groups with regard to their likelyhood to self report.
It also doesn't appear, although I may have missed it, to correct for how often someone smokes pot. If person A smokes once a month and person B smokes daily, person B has a greater chance of being arrested but that's not factored into the study. The numbers do suggest some real issues but I think there are some issues with the study as well.

Arnold is such a horrible area nowadays when it comes to drugs, so this doesn't surprise me.

I'm thinking that this guy is the one with the pit bulls that have been killing small dogs in the…Read More area.

Gretchen: All I needed to see was that he (Anthony Brown) is part of the O'Malley admin. I dont care…Read More what he has to say about anything, I will not vote for him...
Jack Mayoffer May 11, 2013 at 07:28 pm
Its a strong possibility that these pit bulls are owned by drug dealers here on The Cape. Or a these…Read More might be the guard dogs for a meth lab, or property of the Crips or Bloods gang and are used for illegal dog fighting. Larry Tolliver, can you look into this before you retire please ? You haven't done much else..
Holly McDermott June 16, 2013 at 06:49 pm
Vocabulary, Mr. Scott? How does obtuse fit? One should not own pets if one is not capable of caring…Read More for them properly ... Everyone should make a donation to the NRA in memory of Snuggles.
Holly McDermott June 16, 2013 at 06:52 pm
Animals are merely as vicious as their owners/trainers - I "know" many pit bull mixes who…Read More are sweet and gentle. That said - this is why Snuggles' owners needed a shotgun ... who needs to waste tax dollars on animal control? Send these dog owners to the swamp; they can all be gator bait. Tis' pitiful if one cannot trust to have one's pet - or child for that matter - safe within the confines of a neighborhood and one's home.

You evidently haven't lived in AA co. very long. Back in the 70's and 80's, the desk sergeant used…Read More to answer to phone " Northern District house of bastards". If you called to lodge a complaint about an officer, you were advised that you would probably be harrassed if you did. They know what's going on, they always have. John Leopold didn't invent it.
Jack Mayoffer May 10, 2013 at 06:35 pm
John Leopold didn't invent it -agreed. But he did perpetuate it, and use it to satisfy his own needs…Read More ans wants. Problem is - HE GOT CAUGHT !!

He keeps getting elected by the majority doesn't he? He must be doing a good job.
amark April 20, 2013 at 01:55 am
Yeah Stevie we all know that the rationale for judging whether a politician is doing a good job is…Read More if they keep getting re-elected. If that's your belief I'm sure you are a big fan of Michelle Bachman? Or perhaps you liked Strom Thurmond because he was in the Senate for over 50 years.
Steve April 20, 2013 at 01:11 pm
I am not a big fan of either of them, but I still respect the process.

She has a long criminal history that includes armed robbery, assault, possession with intent to…Read More distribute, telephone misuse, plus numerous traffic charges. Anyone who says they know her and that she's not guilty should read her case search history. This woman lived in Pasadena in my neighborhood. She ran the teenage drug house before she was evicted. They need to lock her up for a good long time just to keep her away from our kids.
