Joy In Learning is a child care center for children aged 2 to 10 located at the intersection of Bay Dale andMore Broadneck Road. Joy In Learning also provides a structured summer program. The center is a partner with TEACH Institute through Anne Arundel Community College where AACC students are permitted to use the site to complete fieldwork. Transportation may be arranged for students of Windsor Farm Elementary, Cape St. Claire Elementary and Broadneck Elementary.

Housed in the same building with Severn River Middle School, Magothy River students are from the feeder schools ofMore Broadneck and Cape St. Claire elementary schools. The feeder high school is Broadneck High. The students here consistently perform in the top five middle schools in the county with state assessments. The school's active PTA sponsors family events and the PE program annually participates in the Hoops for Heart fundraiser. Clubs at Magothy, include everything from computers and drama to Students Against Drunk Driving and French. Students also are offered participation in intramural sports, including ping-pong.
