Olympian From Broadneck Meets Prince Charles

Farrah Hall, a Broadneck High graduate in 1999, met with Prince Charles before the Olympics in London recently.

Meeting royalty is just one of the perks to being an Olympic athlete, as Farrah Hall, a 1999 graduate of Broadneck High School, learned recently. Hall, a windsurfer from Broadneck in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, will be competing for the United States in late July. Hall met with Prince Charles—the Prince of Wales—on June 26 while attending an event prior to the start of the games. Patch caught up with Hall through email in the middle of her busy schedule, and was able to capture her impressions of the meeting with the prince. "It was a little unreal meeting Prince Charles, and the first thing I thought is that he looks just like his pictures," Hall said. "He was very kind and you could tell he was really good at meet-and-greet …

Two BHS Grads Prepare for Olympic Games

Local running sensation Matthew Centrowitz is a shoo-in for the Olympic games, his fellow runners say.

Broadneck High School graduates Farrah Hall and Matthew Centrowitz both have their eyes on the gold this summer. Hall, 30, a 1999 graduate of BHS, qualified for the London 2012 Summer Olympics in March after showing off her world-class windsurfing abilities. The Annapolis native started windsurfing when she was 13, and since then, competing in the Olympics has been her dream. This year, she'll get her chance. She's already in London now, getting ready for the big games. On Tuesday, Hall uploaded pictures of her meeting with Prince Charles to her Facebook.
