Meghenn Jackson, of Arnold, was named the junior college division's top female player of the year.
An Anne Arundel Community College student athlete was selected as the preseason lacrosse player of the year by Lacrosse Magazine. Meghenn Jackson, of Arnold, was named the junior college division's top female player of the year. It is the second consecutive year that an AACC athlete was chosen for the award. The magazine also ranked the 2013 AACC women’s lacrosse team as third in the nation. Jackson, a midfielder who played at Broadneck High School, is a returning first-team All-American who had 91 goals and 21 assists this past season, finishing second in the nation in points with 112. She also was the leading scorer as a forward on AACC’s women’s soccer team this past fall with 49 total points. The team will continue under the leadership…

In the Pioneers' home-game season opener, they controlled the field.

Anne Arundel women’s soccer played their 2012 home opener on Sunday in a noon contest against Lackawanna College from Pennsylvania. The Pioneers are a young squad returning two players from last year’s team with four overall sophomores. On Sunday AACC took control early and kept it. Despite not scoring in the first half the Pioneers offense dominated the ball, firing off several shots. In the second half Pioneer sophomore Meghenn Jackson broke the ice scoring the first goal of the game. With the first goal out of the way AACC added three more. The lady Pioneers lost to top-ranked Gloucester Community College of Minnesota in the national championship.

Anne Arundel Community College’s 2012 women’s softball team returns from Division III Nationals as the runner-up after an impressive performance in the tournament. The AACC Pioneers (43-10) compiled a four-game winning streak to fight their way into the championship game before playing Gloucester Community College in a tough tournament final. AACC opened the tournament on May 17 against sixth-ranked Ridgewater College (33-9) of Minnesota. The Pioneers and pitcher Elaine Nescio put together a strong performance holding Ridgewater to three runs, but Ridgewater held a slight edge …

AACC softball concluded its regular season this weekend with the most wins for their softball team in the last ten seasons.
The following article was submitted to the Broadneck Patch by Duane Herr, who works closely with the athletics department at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). AACC women’s softball team played the final two games of their regular season schedule on Saturday. Riding a six-game win streak, the Pioneers traveled to Garrett College and swept a Maryland Junior College Athletic Association (JUCO) conference doubleheader, winning 12-0 and 14-3. The wins improved their standing to 37-8 overall and 20-2 in the conference, placing them in second at the season’s end. AACC softball concluded its regular season with the most wins for an AACC softball team in the last ten seasons. The 2003 National Championship team also posted a 37-win season …
