Sports Illustrated Satirizes Broadneck High Shaver Incident

Sports Illustrated recalls controversial shaving incident as a sign of the apocalypse.

While recalling the year's "signs of the apocalypse," Sports Illustrated made mention of Broadneck High School's controversial shaving incident, where a girls varsity swimmer was disqualified earlier this year for shaving before a meet. Shaving at the site of a competition is a violation of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rulebook. The high school swimmer was disqualified after BHS won the meet, which ended up costing them the county title, which was given to their rival, Severna Park High School. Broadneck's coach Colleen Winans was suspended from coaching at the team's next meet for not reporting her knowledge of the shaving.
