Broadneck High School student-led bands Keyboard Comrade and Epic 4 Nothing will play live during the Saturday show.
The 15th annual Anne Arundel County Battle of the Bands competition is set to kick off Saturday night at Maryland Hall. The Capital Gazette recently provided profiles on each of the 12 bands performing, of which 11 will be in competition for the best of show. The winner of the competition will get studio time to record one of their songs professionally in Studio A of Wright Way Studios. Broadneck High School senior Ingvar Jacobson, 18, is the one-man electronic band in Keyboard Comrade, which will perform an exhibition on Saturday before the big show, but will not compete. There was a lot riding on 15-minute performances by high school bands as part of the 14th annual Anne Arundel County Battle of the Bands.
Nancy Almgren, founder and organizer of the Anne Arundel County Battle of the Bands, said she loves to see the students of all different musical genres and schools come together every year. "Where else are you going to get kids from every part of the county?" Almgren asked Saturday night during the 14th annual event at Maryland Hall. This year's competition featured students from public and private schools, including Strobe Otters from Annapolis High School, August of One from The Key School and Plan C from Indian Creek High School. 1) Windsor Farm Annual Bull Roast When/Where: Saturday, March 5, at the Colombian Center in Severna Park from 7 to 11 p.m. Why Go: The Bull Roast is an adult event, featuring all you can eat food provided by Pit Boys; all you can drink (beer, wine and soda with cash bar available); and dancing to live entertainment by the band “We’re Not Handsome.” There will also be a live and silent auction, gaming wheels featuring two cash wheels and one Whiskey, Wine and Flower Wheel, as well as several door prizes. Local band Capstone takes 4th place at the county's 13th annual Battle of the Bands.
Hundreds of teens and parents packed Maryland Hall Saturday night to rock out and cheer on their favorite bands in the 13th annual Anne Arundel County High School Battle of the Bands. Hosted by Danny Mays, marketing manager of the event and a bassist for Gold Mind Squad, the competition showcased 12 bands who were selected from schools across the county. The Maryland State Education Association served as a major sponsor for the event. For a couple of groups, including Clubbing Seals from Glen Burnie High School, it was their first performance ever.
