BASKETBALL: BHS Versus SPHS is Tuesday

The games begin at 3:30 p.m. at Broadneck High.

Ignite the rivalry—Broadneck High School will host the Severna Park Falcons on Tuesday, starting with an afternoon varsity game. The action will continue all afternoon with girls and boys matchups along with a JV game. When the rivals met earlier in the season, Broadneck came out on top. The Bruins boys basketball team defeated the Falcons 47-39 on Dec. 8. And the girls won 54-50 in a closely contested match. Local rivals Broadneck and Severna Park High School will challenge each other again on the court all afternoon Tuesday. Will you be there? Here's the schedule for Tuesday:

Broadneck High School Teacher, Coach Under Investigation

English teacher and basketball coach Erin Thorne has been reassigned during an investigation concerning a matter of student safety.

A Broadneck High School teacher was removed from her classes and relieved of her coaching duties on Thursday while school officials conduct an investigation into a "student safety" matter. English teacher and girls basketball coach Erin Thorne will be replaced in the classroom by a substitute, and former basketball coach Bruce Springer will take over Thorne's coaching responsibilities. "When issues such as these come to our attention, we take measures and steps to protect our students and at the same time preserve the rights of our employees," said Bob Mosier, spokesman for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. PHOTOS: Arundel Boys Top Broadneck to Stay Undefeated

The Arundel High boys basketball team moved to 17-0 with a 65-46 win over the Bruins. The girls team fell, 42-30.

The Arundel High School boys basketball team kept its perfect record intact with a 65-46 victory over Broadneck High School Friday. The team used a strong second-half run to hold off the Bruins and move to 17-0 on the season. The girls team, meanwhile, fell 42-30 to fall to 6-11 on the year. The teams will host Northeast and Southern next week. Photographer Todd Breese was there to capture the action for Patch.
