The girls team beat Sherwood in a 21-5 blowout on Wednesday night.
Broadneck High School's girls lacrosse team became the new Class 4A/3A state champions on Wednesday night, beating Sherwood High School, 21-5. According to the Severna Park Voice, the score was the highest in state finals history, with a total of 14 different players recording goals in the game, including all eight seniors on the team. YouTube member Gary Adornato posted a video of the team being interviewed after the game. "This season for us has been one that you could have written a storybook about," said assistant coach Katie Kelly, noting that the team started off with a 0-2 record. The sailing team from Broadneck will race against the best high schools in the country in May.
Broadneck High School’s sailing team is heading to a national sailing competition to test their mettle against the best student sailors in the country. Twenty students from BHS will sail in the ISSA High School Doublehanded Championship for the Mallory Trophy in May, where 20 of the best teams in the country come together each year to compete in a fleet sailing championship regatta. David Schoene, a parent volunteer for the team, said getting to the nationals was always a goal in the back of their minds, but getting there was an exciting journey. The team was neck and neck in its penultimate regatta in Christchurch, VA. “It really came down to the last set of races,” Schoene said. “It was a very tight race between the top five schools.” …

Student athletes sat down with pens in hand in front of their peers and parents on Thursday afternoon.
Some of the brightest athletic stars in Broadneck all sat in a row on Thursday with their parents and friends to formally sign commitments to colleges in the fall. Posed with their favorite sports equipment along a table long enough to accommodate the 20 athletes, the top talent of the high school swapped stories and shared their hopes for their next big move—to college. Athletics Director Ken Kazmerak said this was a historic occasion. The group of students assembled to sign their commitment letters was the largest he could remember. Last year the school hosted a similar ceremony with four students. The boys placed second and girls placed fifth in the regional championship meet this weekend.
The Broadneck High School boys swim team tallied 292 points to place second at the 4A/3A East Region Swim Championships this past weekend. The girls team placed fifth with 240 points. Severna Park High School won both titles with the boys scoring 330 points and the girls, 296. There were many excellent swims during the regional meet with a number of the Broadneck swimmers qualifying for the state championship being held Saturday at the University of Maryland College Park aquatics center. The team will have 12 individual entries in the state meet while all six relays will also compete.

Broadneck's swimmers beat the competition again at their most recent meet.
The Broadneck High School boys' and girls' swim teams both upped their records to 6-0 Friday afternoon with convincing wins over Chesapeake and North County high schools. Competing at the North Arundel Aquatic Center in Glen Burnie, the boys team team beat Chesapeake 68-26 and overcame North County 81-13. Broadneck boys and girls led the pack in two meets on Wednesday.
Indoor track and field athletes across Anne Arundel County went head-to-head Wednesday night, and Broadneck runners came out ahead in two meets. The runs took place on Wednesday at Prince George's Sports and Learning Center. Girls in the south and boys in the north rose to the top of the scoring charts after the competition. In the fifth event, Broadneck High's girls took first and second place in the girls 4x800 meter relay. And in the sixth event, boys swept the 4x800 meter relay. In the finals, Broadneck's two teams placed third and fourth. Congratulations to all the athletes and good luck in the rest of this season! The band will next head to the national competition at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday.
The Broadneck High School marching band took home top honors in a statewide tournament on Saturday. It is heading to the nationals this week to compete among the best of the best. The Bruins won Division 5 of the USBands Maryland State Championships on Saturday at Towson University, beating out three other schools. Broadneck won awards for best music, best visuals, best guard and best percussion awards in the division. A video of the band's performance was uploaded to YouTube over the weekend. The Broadneck High School Bruins placed second in this year's Anne Arundel County High School Cheerleading Championship. The team swept the tournament last year, winning the county, then placing second in regional and state championships, according to The Severna Park Voice.
