A longtime fundraiser for the Republican party, Richard E. Hug, died May 4 in Anne Arundel County. Hug, 78, of Arnold, MD, was known as a prolific fundraiser for both charitable and political causes. “Hug’s political fundraising efforts for the Republican Party were unparalleled in Maryland,” according to a statement from the Anne Arundel County chapter of the Republican State Central Committee. Throughout his career, Hug served as the finance chairman for several gubernatorial campaigns, as well as being the official finance chairman for Maryland in former President George W.
