Detectives seize cocaine, crack cocaine, Oxycodone, a vehicle and cash at the Arnold residence.
A man was charged with possession of cocaine, crack cocaine and Oxycodone after police searched an Arnold home Thursday night. Anne Arundel County police arrested 49-year-old Terry Norman Dunscomb of the 400 block of Broadneck Road on multiple drug-related charges. According to a police press release, detectives seized 20 grams of suspected crack cocaine worth about $1,900 along with 7.7 grams of suspected cocaine worth about $700, Oxycodone tablets worth about $550, drug paraphernalia, a vehicle and $1,347 in cash.

Authorities responded to a report of a suspicious package found outside a Verizon Store in Arnold.
A bomb squad investigated a briefcase found outside the Arnold Verizon store but the item was declared safe, a fire department spokesman said. Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Keith Swindle said at 11:30 a.m. Monday, the department received a call regarding a suspicious package left in front of the Verizon store in the Arnold Station shopping center. After an evaluation by emergency personnel, including a bomb squad from the Annapolis Fire Department, the package was deemed safe and the scene was cleared, Swindle said.

Adult was charged with possession of approximately $2,500 worth of marijuana, police said.
A 36-year-old woman was arrested and two teenage minors were detained on allegations of marijuana possession in an Arnold neighborhood during the weekend, authorities said. The Anne Arundel County Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant for drug violations in the 1400 block of Falcon Nest Court on Friday. Detectives found approximately 4.5 ounces of suspected marijuana, the street value of which was $2,500, and related drug paraphernalia. Jessica Leigh Teeter, 36, of Arnold, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The fire caused approximately $25,000 in total damage to the home, and smoke detectors were found to be inoperable, a fire department spokesman said.
A house fire in the 900 block of Phillips Road Wednesday morning sent a family of four out into the cold. Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Chief Keith Swindle said at around 2:30 a.m., firefighters arrived at the one-story dwelling, seeing smoke from the windows. A team of 30 firefighters brought the one-alarm fire under control in less than 30 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but is believed to be electrical in nature, Swindle said. The fire caused approximately $25,000 in total damage to the home. Smoke detectors in the home were found to be inoperable, Swindle said. The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.

A firefighter sustained minor burns while working to douse flames, a report said.
A home along the Magothy River was significantly damaged by a fire early Monday morning, a fire official said. There was no one was in the home, but one firefighter sustained minor burns and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center. The home in the 400 block of Beach Avenue near Mago Vista was engulfed in flames at 12:30 a.m. Monday, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Keith Swindle. When firefighters arrived at the home, they immediately called for a second alarm, Swindle said. It took a total of 61 firefighters nearly two hours to get the fire under control, and by the end, the house was very heavily damaged. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Swindle said. A common area off school property behind Broadneck has drawn more police this month.
A number of recent incidents behind Broadneck High School have drawn more police to an area commonly referred to as "The Pit." In February alone, Anne Arundel County police have charged 13 people, mostly teenagers from BHS, with illegal activity ranging from possessing a tobacco product under the age of 18 to carrying dangerous weapons and drug paraphernalia. On Feb. 8, police arrived after a fight between several individuals who fled by the time police arrived. The fight was said to have lasted only one minute, and broke out just 10 minutes after school ended at BHS. A video of the fight was recorded by students and uploaded to a social media site. Police arrested an Arnold man after police found crack and marijuana in his vehicle.
Anne Arundel County police arrested a man from Arnold when officers said they found crack cocaine and marijuana after finding him asleep in a running vehicle. Shortly before 2 a.m. early Thursday, officers checked a vehicle on the 7700 block of Spencer Road in Glen Burnie. The vehicle was running and occupied. After determining the vehicle was not from the neighborhood, officers searched the vehicle. Police seized 20 grams of crack cocaine and seven grams of marijuana, with a street value of more than $2,000 along with $598 in cash. Police determined the drugs were packaged in a manner consistent with distribution. Baltimore County police have charged a man from Annapolis with murder in the death of Owings Mills resident Katie Hadel. Jeffrey Michael Shiflett, 33, of the 1700 block of Saint Margarets Road in Annapolis, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to a Baltimore County Police press release. He was arrested without incident Wednesday morning shortly after 11 a.m. when an officer spotted him walking on the street in the Reisterstown area, police said. He is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Teachers and staff at Broadneck High School were evacuated at about 9 a.m. Tuesday after a haze and odor were reported in the school. Firefighters from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, including the Arnold Volunteer Fire Department, arrived shortly afterward with six engines, but found no fire. Fire Department Chief Keith Swindle said the haze and odor were likely caused by a malfunctioning HVAC unit. The scene was cleared as of 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, he said.
