Broadneck boys and girls led the pack in two meets on Wednesday.
Indoor track and field athletes across Anne Arundel County went head-to-head Wednesday night, and Broadneck runners came out ahead in two meets. The runs took place on Wednesday at Prince George's Sports and Learning Center. Girls in the south and boys in the north rose to the top of the scoring charts after the competition. In the fifth event, Broadneck High's girls took first and second place in the girls 4x800 meter relay. And in the sixth event, boys swept the 4x800 meter relay. In the finals, Broadneck's two teams placed third and fourth. Congratulations to all the athletes and good luck in the rest of this season! Thanks to Walter "Skip" Lee, an avid Broadneck Athletics fan, for providing the results for the night's activities.

A local 9U basketball team won the county's championship with an undefeated record.
The Broadneck Area Youth Sports (BAYS) league 9-10-year-old boys basketball team, Thunder, just wrapped up its season with a 10-0 record. The boys went on to win in the Anne Arundel County Parks and Recreation spring basketball league. In an email to Patch, Coach Chris Stewart said he was proud of his team. "It was such a privilege to witness the Thunder display every positive trait you could ever want to see out of a team this season," Stewart said. "They tried hard. They did their best. They had fun. They always had each other's backs. They always thought they were going to win. And they did it all with tremendous sportsmanship and grace." Stewart said he believes his team is somewhat unique in that members are all stars in other walks …
Sophomore Elaine Nescio has been pitching for 14 years, and doesn't see an end in sight.

Elaine Nescio, the Pioneers’ star pitcher, was recognized as player of the month in March by the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference, as well as the National Junior College Association’s player of the week on March 14. I'd heard so much about Nescio over the past month that I reached out for a quick interview through Twitter, and she happily accepted. Nescio, 21, was modest about her success, saying she was honored but attributed her success to the support of her team. “The pitchers kind of get recognized more because they’re the center of attention, but I wouldn’t be doing as well if my team wasn’t doing …
