Looking for something unique and special for someone?

Instead of stocking the latest and greatest toys, The Cape Exchange sets its sights on carrying items you might remember from your childhood holiday memories. As a retail consignment shop, The Cape Exchange gets items from locals and businesses second-hand. But one person’s discarded items are another person's treasures. Whether it's from the 1950s or the 2000s, store owner Michele Skarwecki aims for a mixed bag of new, used, vintage and antique. “People will come in, see something that catches their eye and say, ‘Oh, I remember this from when I was a child,’” she said. Cape Exchange Phone Flooded By Angry Bridge Travelers

Due to a phone snafu, the Cape St. Claire store is often the target of misdirected calls for bridge traffic updates.

Whenever there's trouble on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, among the first people to find out are the employees at The Cape Exchange. The phone number for the Cape St. Claire consignment shop had its former life with the Maryland Transportation Authority, and that history often leads to some confused, often irate callers. Exchange owner Michele Skarwecki said she'll go for weeks without getting calls like that. But when there's a serious incident and traffic gets backed up, she gets flooded with angry calls asking why the bridge is moving so slowly.
