The new restaurant on Ritchie Highway is expected to open later this fall.
A new sign, replacing the old Griffin's Grill sign, has been erected at the site of the new Mother's, now dubbed Mother's Peninsula Grill. Mother's Federal Hill Grille has a popular location in Baltimore, known for its Purple Patio, which caters to Baltimore Ravens fans. In July, restaurant owner Dave Rather announced plans to locate another branch on Ritchie Highway in Arnold, where he said he believes the market is ripe for a restaurant like Mother's. "We really like the area—it's close to home, and we feel it's a good demographic. There's not a lot of night life there, so we think we can really add to it," he said. The former Griffin's Grill is being renovated and modified. Among the changes will be the stone facade on the exterior, a …

A stone facade is now visible at the construction site for Mother's Grille.
Construction crews have been working hard at the former Griffin's Grill, converting the restaurant into the Arnold location for Mother's Federal Hill Grille. A stone facade can be seen along the side of the building, giving the former all-wood exterior a different look. Crews are preparing to continue that stone work across the front of the building. Restaurant owner Dave Rather said in July he planned to open the restaurant and sports bar in the fall. The former Griffin's Grill will be renovated and modified to suit Rather's new designs for the building. Among the changes will be a new LED light sign, new carpet and hardwood floors, new windows and a new, vaulted ceiling for the dining area, Rather said. "We want to add some light and …

The restaurant and bar owner tells Patch about his plans for the new Arnold location.
Sample the food of Mother's Federal Hill Grille at 7 p.m. Sunday at the former Griffin's Grill in Arnold. The upcoming restaurant and bar announced a pre-construction party, featuring food samples and live music on its billboard along Ritchie Highway and its Twitter account on Thursday. Restaurant owner Dave Rather told Patch he chose Arnold as the location of his second Mother's restaurant because he lives nearby and feels the market is ripe for another Mother's. "I live in Pasadena, my kids play Green Hornet sports," Rather said. "We really like the area—it's close to home, and we feel it's a good demographic. There's not a lot of night life there, so we think we can really add to it." The restaurant's Baltimore location is known for its…

The restaurant slated to open in the former location of Griffin's Grill on Ritchie Highway.
An award-winning neighborhood restaurant and sports bar has made plans to open a location in Arnold this fall. Mother's Federal Hill Grille, a Baltimore restaurant owned by Dave Rather, will open its second location Arnold on Ritchie Highway at the former Griffin's Grill, The Baltimore Business Journal reported. Griffin's Grill closed in June. Mother's official Twitter account confirmed the news Wednesday morning. Rather said he would spend up to $2 million renovating the 6,600-square-foot restaurant and would erect a new 10-foot-by-30-foot LED sign to attract new customers. He told The Baltimore Business Journal he hoped to open the restaurant in the fall. Mother's is known for its "Purple Patio," which attracts Baltimore Ravens fans on …
