VIDEO: Severn River Orchestra Tours Broadneck Schools
The tour showed elementary students the kind of music program they'll have access to in middle school.
Arnold Elementary's gymnasium boomed with brass and strings on Friday morning to the tunes of Katy Perry's "Fireworks." Severn River Middle School's chamber orchestra was on tour Friday across several Broadneck schools, starting with Arnold Elementary, and then on to Belvedere Elementary and Windsor Farm Elementary. Music director Mike Tayman told 5th grade students about the orchestra's trips this year across the county—from FutureCare to play for senior citizens, and to the Marley Station Mall to play for an even larger audience. They'll also be taking a trip to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg in the future. Tayman encouraged younger musicians to keep at it, as it only gets better.
