20 of Broadneck's Top Athletes Sign College Commitments

Student athletes sat down with pens in hand in front of their peers and parents on Thursday afternoon.

Some of the brightest athletic stars in Broadneck all sat in a row on Thursday with their parents and friends to formally sign commitments to colleges in the fall. Posed with their favorite sports equipment along a table long enough to accommodate the 20 athletes, the top talent of the high school swapped stories and shared their hopes for their next big move—to college. Athletics Director Ken Kazmerak said this was a historic occasion. The group of students assembled to sign their commitment letters was the largest he could remember. Last year the school hosted a similar ceremony with four students. Patch interviewed Broadneck's star kicker Adam Greene, softball shortstop sensation Kristina Dillard, and lacrosse goalie Natalee Eastom. …

Baltimore Sends Off Ravens to Super Bowl XLVII

Fans gathered at the Inner Harbor to cheer on the Ravens as they left for New Orleans on Monday.

The ice and rain Monday morning didn't stop the Baltimore faithful from crowding the Inner Harbor to rally around the Ravens as they departed for New Orleans and Super Bowl XLVII. Lucky kids who got off school sat on shoulders, 20-somethings belted Ravens chants and several of the football players themselves were seen snapping photos and video of the send-off. Future Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis gave credit to the fans, without whom the franchise would not exist. "Baltimore, Baltimore—there is no Ravens without you guys," said Lewis, who announced his retirement at the beginning of the postseason.
