Broadneck High School Teacher, Coach Under Investigation

English teacher and basketball coach Erin Thorne has been reassigned during an investigation concerning a matter of student safety.

A Broadneck High School teacher was removed from her classes and relieved of her coaching duties on Thursday while school officials conduct an investigation into a "student safety" matter. English teacher and girls basketball coach Erin Thorne will be replaced in the classroom by a substitute, and former basketball coach Bruce Springer will take over Thorne's coaching responsibilities. "When issues such as these come to our attention, we take measures and steps to protect our students and at the same time preserve the rights of our employees," said Bob Mosier, spokesman for Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
