New Kids Play Area for Westfield Annapolis Mall

The new play land is near Pottery Barn and was welcomed by many parents on hand for the mall's Family Fun Day.

Many of the parents packed into the open court outside Pottery Barn in Westfield Annapolis mall said the new play area is a welcome addition. Moms and nannies herding teetering toddlers while pushing overpacked double strollers mostly offered a quick laugh and quickly praised having another area to let their little ones burn off some energy. On Wednesday, Sneaks from the Anne Arundel County Library did the honors and cut the ribbon on the fresh, new play area. The mall's other play area is outside of JCPenney. “This is the first step in revitalizing this area of the mall,” said Christi Wallace, Westfield’s marketing director. “We want to create not only a great place to shop, but a great experience for the whole family.” The ribbon-cutting…

Police Seek Suspect in Mall Theft

Photos are released of suspect entering the Westfield Annapolis Mall on Saturday.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is seeking information on a suspect in connection with a theft at the Liljenquist & Beckstead jewelry store in the Annapolis Mall on Saturday, March 5. According to police, the store’s employees said that a male suspect entered the store around 7 p.m., requested to see some jewelry and then fled the store after the jewelry was handed to him. The police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 30-years-old, 5 feet, 11 inches, 250 pounds, with a tribal style symbol tattooed on the back of his right wrist that extends upwards into his sleeve. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Southern District Police Station at 410-222-1960.

Police Search for Suspect in Sexual Assault Case at Annapolis Mall Garage

County police urge anyone with any information about the suspect to please come forward.

County police are searching for a man in connection with a reported sexual assault and attempted abduction that took place Jan. 8 at the Annapolis Mall. Officers responded to the mall around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. According to police, the victim was walking with friends near the red parking garage of the mall when the suspect approached the group. Police say the suspect ordered the victim to get into his car, where she was sexually assaulted. The victim was able to get out of the car, and immediately contacted the police department. Detectives have made a composite sketch of the suspect, which is shown here. Police describe the suspect as a white male, about 20-25 years old, with a thin build. Police say the suspect is about 5 feet 10 inches…
