Dorsey Clarke recently graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Policy and a minor degree in Spanish. Her career as a student at Sewanee allowed her to discover her deep interest in human interaction with the natural world. She comes to Patch Broadneck with a strong desire to become intimate with the Broadneck community, in respect to both humans and the environment.

While attending Sewanee, she researched and reported on a variety of environmental issues at the local level. She served as a research assistant to three distinct professors during her college career. From these experiences, she learned how to articulate science, biology, and the happenings in nature in a way that everyone can understand and relate. As an environmentalist, she believes that the ability to coherently communicate the needs of our ecosystem is a fundamental component of her work.

In addition to her specialty in environmental studies, she comes to patch with a passion for community development with an emphasis on the localization of economies. She has experience volunteering and interning in a variety of community building projects in her hometown of Virginia Beach, VA; Sewanee, Tennessee; Washington, D.C.; and Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has gained much professional experience through volunteer programs and highly endorses strengthening communities through volunteerism.

More recently, she has begun researching easy lifestyle changes she can make to live more in a more sustainable way; this includes finding ways to lower energy consumption in the home and shopping at farmer's markets for local fruits and veggies!
