About Jill
Jill was born and raised in Long Island New York and is a Freelance Writer- Photographer in her spare time. She earned her B.S. in the Administration of Justice from The American University in Washington, D.C. She is currently a Security Specialist with the Federal Government. Jill has lived in Arlington for the past 25 years and loves living in Arlington and the Washington DC area.
Jill has been very active in her Arlington community, including sitting on the Board of Directors for Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO), Columbia Heights Civic Association (CHCA), and the Arlington Village Condominium Association. Jill is also active as a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in Arlington since 2002.
Jill's parents, brother and sister live in the New York area. Her brother is a soccer journalist and her sister is the mother of two and a freelance photographer in her community. Jill's Dad was a photographer at one point in his career and her Mom went to college for journalism and had a cooking column on the East Meadow New York Patch. So journalism and photography runs deep in the veins of the Lewis family.
She currently keeps herself busy with her Freelance Writing and photos with her recipe column on Old Town and Mount Vernon Patch, and her human interest articles/phot journalism on the Balston VA Patch, photography, going to the movies, eating at one of the wonderful restaurants in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax and DC, cooking, volunteering and giving back to the community, going to area farmers markets, watching the Food Network, Travel Channel (cooking shows) & HGTV, hanging out with her friends, her dog Cargo (Wheaton Terrier/Golden Retriever mix) and spending time with her family.
