ReplyCongrats to Jim and King's. It always seems like a lot of successful high school football coaches in the Northwest played at PLU for Frosty Westering. One of these days he'll win a road playoff game in Grays Harbor County and win a title.

On the article What's Your Favorite Ken Griffey Jr. Moment?

ReplyGriffey had a great career despite an injury plagued final 10 years but at the same there's no evidence he used performing enhancing drugs which were so common during his era. In my mind there's no question that he should be voted into the Hall of Fame before Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, etc. even though some of his career and individual season stats aren't as good.

ReplyThe point of AP curriculum is to make a buck and get a piece of the revenue pie and take it away from colleges. Dartmouth is protecting its bottom line. AP may create some uniformity of what is taught but any good teacher is going to riff of it and not strictly teach to the test. The point is to learn something that is applicable not get to easy credits for regurgitating stuff like a vomiting robot.

On the article How Do You Feel About Lance Armstrong After He Confessed To Doping?

ReplyI'm not sure it has been proven, but some people including at least one of Armstrong's own personal doctors believe that his doping could have caused his cancer in the first place. Everyone in the sport is suspect unfortunately, but Greg LeMond is one champion from the U.S. who checks out as having won clean and fair. In baseball, Ken Griffey, Jr. was a great player who got hurt a lot and stats diminished the latter part of his career, but he can look in the mirror and say he didn't cheat. I think he's still a first ballot Hall of Famer even though his numbers won't be as good as some of the guys who juiced.

ReplyDespite some of the issues with Brown's and Laughing Ladies, in the end I found them to be good places to meet people and get work done, just like Third Place Commons is a good place for that. It's not an easy thing to do, and I have to like the fact that it was attempted, despite some of the imperfections that went with those attempts.
