Family of 5 Displaced After 2-Alarm Fire in Broadneck

A total of 57 firefighters from across the region responded to the fire.

A house fire in the 300 block of Forest Beach Road in Broadneck displaced a family of five Tuesday afternoon, a fire official said.

A total of 57 firefighters responded to the scene from Anne Arundel, Annapolis and the Naval Academy, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle.

The incident was quickly upgraded to a two-alarm fire after assessing the situation. It was brought under control within 30 minutes.Β 

No one was at home during the fire, which caused an estimated $50,000 in damages. One firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment, Swindle said.

Two adults and three children were displaced as a result of the fire, Swindle said.Β 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
