Sunday Fire Displaces Cape St. Claire Family

The community of Cape St. Claire has come together to support the family, who lost nearly everything in the Sunday morning fire.

A house fire in the 1100 block of River Bay Road in Cape St. Claire ruined the home of a family on Sunday morning, a fire official said.

Firefighters from around the region responded to the 8 a.m. blaze, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle. One person was sent to Anne Arundel Medical Center to be checked for smoke inhalation, Swindle said.

The fire was brought under control after an "all-hands" call was made, raising the priority of the fire incident. In total the fire caused an estimated $160,000 in damages.

The Red Cross has been contacted to assist with donations for the family, who have lost most of their belongings, according to neighbors. To help, contact the Anne Arundel County chapter of the American Red Cross.

Donations are also being organized locally by neighbors of the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Swindle said.
